5/19 - last day for prepping and eating

best way to start the day... big breakfast with the family. mom was super gracious and made all the right stuff - biscuits, eggs, turkey sausage, hash browns and coffee. i was in heaven. it's a little sad how happy just the biscuits made me. man are they good.

we then made a list of food and drinks to stock the pantry for when we return from the hospital. we got all sorts of good stuff: chicken broth, ensure drinks, juices, yogurt, fruit for smoothies, pudding, mashed potatoes, soups, kool-aid and a sippy cup. not quite yummy as my morning meal, but i think it will do.

had a last minute pedicure then we packed the car for our next part of this journey. to houston.

i had another last "pamper-yourself" treatment, a two hour massage with hot stones. i know i will not be able to get these for months post surgery. don't think i will want to put my face down into one of those face cradles. even after the doctor tells me i'm cured. too weird.

it was a great two hours. much needed. i was actually able to relax. i have been running around crazy these past few days trying to get everything squared away. i needed to get re-focused on what lies ahead. i had plenty of time to just relax and let all the other stuff float out of my head. i know that there is probably a million other things that i could have, should have done before this point. but i think i have done my best. i have prepared as best i could and have mentally gotten ready for the big day.

mom and i celebrated with a giant face-stuffing party of our own... LUBY'S!! i almost ate everything. geez that was good.

After our feast we spent some quality time packing, re-packing and planing alarms and schedules for the next day.

Packing for the hospital was pretty easy. just some clothes, my wipe board, a few toiletries, phone, my ID, camera and a notepad. i'll put together a list of must-haves later after i see what we actually needed and used in the hospital.

good night all.
